Countdown to D-day April 4, 2008
We are currently preparing the big crowning event of Miss Landmine Angola 2008 in close collaboration with the Angolan government (CNIDAH) and supported by the European Union. The event will be taking place in Luanda, Angola on April 4th, 2008, the UN International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action.

AND THE WINNERS ARE...
The world's two first Miss Landmine winners were crowned
in Luanda, Angola at 9 pm GMT Wednesday the 2nd of April.
The winner of the jury's vote is Augusta Hurica (hyperlink to pic "Miss Landmine finals 004") (31)
representing the province of Luanda.
Angola's First Lady, Ana Paula dos Santos, was present at the opening and
awarded Augusta her Miss crown.
The winner of the international Internet vote is Maria Restino Manuel (26) representing Cuanza Sul province, with 2831 (29%) out of 9888 votes cast from more than 30 countries.
Maria could not attend the crowning due to pregnancy, but was awarded her special-cast leg prothesis in a seperate ceremony in her home village Cachoeiras on Sunday April 6.
